As Busy As It May Get, Never Take Life For Granted

Important To Be Grateful

It’s no secret that people who are grateful in their lives are much happier than those who tend to take things a bit more for granted.

We put so much thought into so many things. The clothes we wear, the car we drive, & what people think about us. Do we ever just take a second to think about the things that truly have the most value? Our loved ones? Our health? Our lives?

In my experience, we carry on with our lives taking these things as a given… until they’re not. When we take life for granted, we stop being present & forget to live in the moment.

Grateful For What You Have

It’s cliche to say, but in today’s fast-paced world, it’s more relevant than ever to take some time & actually be grateful for what you have!

There are so many people around the world who haven’t been dealt the best cards. Whatever you’re going through, there’s definitely someone out there who’s got it worse. Now, I’m saying that you shouldn’t feel bad or that your struggles aren’t valid. But we sometimes forget how lucky & fortunate we really are.

A home, clothes, food, family. These basic & simple things in your life might seem like a given to you. But other people in the world would consider these things to be a luxury.

There Won't Always Be A 'Next Time'

Life is something very precious to have. Not everyone gets to live a long & healthy life. The only thing in life that is promised to us is death.

It’s fair to say that most of us tend to believe that tomorrow is a promised day. But the sad reality is that this really isn’t true. So many people we love are taken away from us way too soon, which makes you wonder -  “it could have been me”.

Nowadays, we worry about so many things that really aren’t worth worrying about, rather than actively trying to spend more time with our loved ones. We pass up a chance to catch up with a friend or visit our families, telling ourselves that we can always do it “next time.”

‘One day you will wake up & there wont be any mortise to do the things you’ve always wanted.  Do it now.’ - Paulo Coelho

Losing A Best Friend

7 years ago, I lost a best friend of mine at the age of 17. Matt was the type of person who you could count on as a friend & trust with your life. He would listen to everyone’s problems, telling them to look at things from a positive perspective & face the world with a smile. His philosophy was;

Don’t worry about the things that you can’t change. Just try to focus on the things that you can change.

Going through this experience taught me how important it is to cherish & appreciate the little moments you have with the people around you. Also, never let any unresolved conflicts linger for too long. Life is too short for arguments.

No Time Like The Present

If there’s a piece of advice I can give to anyone reading this, pick up the phone & resolve any arguments that you may have had recently with your friends or family.

Life is too short for these things to get in the way. You’ll never know for sure when you’re going to have the last conversation with someone. Be grateful for the time that you have & don’t let it slip away through your fingers.

Love & appreciate the important people around you. Create memories that nobody can steal away from you. Make every moment count. The time is now.
